Will Great Britain Become Little England? ( https://nyti.ms/2JJWnMx )
Let's discuss Brexit, and then my pirate ancestor.

Nicholas Kristof begins his opinion article by listing the wonderful and iconic things Great Britain has done throughout history, then counters these statements by claiming that Britain has gone “nuts”. Kristof argues that Britain is headed for fragmentation and rot through the major party divide with Boris Johnson and Brexit. Brexit will cause massive suffering in both the GDP and trade. Northern Ireland and Scotland are both showing signs of a want for independence. This division is the basis of Kristof’s claim that Great Britain is no longer great.
Kristoff tends to mention the positive things Britain is known for, then once again includes the horrible state that they are in right now. This acts as a motivation to restore Great Britain to what it once was. His tone remains one with genuine concern. Kristof seems to be troubled with the idea that Great Britain is divided. This is where his exigence comes in; Kristof was motivated to write this article by the division in both politics and the idea of Brexit. Kristof’s language does not remain too complex, but it stays at a level where he presents facts but keeps and emotional and personal opinion.

Kristof's more personal and worried tone allowed the readers to feel genuine concern for the state of Great Britain. If Great Britain falls, then there will be huge influence on huge countries, both in economics and politics. Kristof raises an important question with factual evidence and emotional responses.
